Description

Following the public health emergency in mid 2020, there were state-wide “stay at home” orders in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. This led to drastic changes in the implementation and practice of psychological services as a whole, along with concerns as to how assessments could be done practically. While some practitioners discontinued evaluations for various reasons, the future of assessments is aligned with the ability of administration through teleconference platforms. Various test publishers already had some assessments available on web-based portals or through computer administration, but not all tests that psychologists use throughout the country are available. There were concerns on test security and administration, along with best practices on how to conduct more specialized forms of evaluations (e.g. forensic, neuropsychological). This discussion will highlight and address the concerns on the future of psychological assessments done on a teleconference platform.
