Description

Psychology’s presence in medical settings has been established for many decades. Additionally, for many years, psychology has also been a part of the growth of high-quality primary care, a term developed by the National Academy of Medicine in 2021, that includes behavioral health as standard practice in the primary care setting. To meet the behavioral health demands of the community, behavioral health integration into primary care is still needed as the population braces for the impact the COVID-19 pandemic will have on the health care system for years to come. The presentation will introduce the tenets of Primary Care Behavioral Health practice as well as the role of psychology in primary care to address new challenges that are ahead regarding how the community accesses health care and improving health equity for all.
