The Early Career Psychologist special interest group presents a discussion of how the delivery of mental health services can be adapted to meet client needs during, and even after, a global pandemic. Panelists will discuss practical, legal, and ethical issues related to providing telehealth in a range of settings, from private practice to a large institution.

Research interests include health psychology; behavioral-and-mindfulness-based interventions; and understanding the relations among stress, physical health, psychosocial adjustment, and quality of life.
Dr. Michael Flynn is honored to be the only Attorney in Tarrant County, Texas who is also a licensed Clinical Psychologist. In addition to the practice of law, his experience and expertise as a forensic psychologist allow him to offer unique and creative services to individuals as well as to other attorneys. Michael Flynn began his career in private practice in 1980 after earning a doctorate in clinical psychology. Lawyers and courts throughout North Texas asked him to conduct hundreds of psychological evaluations, primarily in matters of disputed custody, but also in criminal and personal injury cases, and CPS matters. For nearly three decades North Texas attorneys sought Dr. Flynn’s input for their disputed cases and as an expert witness with a reputation for integrity, insight, and professional expertise. As his work became increasingly focused on court-related matters, he decided to study law formally, and in 2007 he added a law degree to his credentials. After graduating from Texas Wesleyan school of Law, he moved his practice from Denton County to Fort Worth. In addition to his degrees in psychology and law, Dr. Flynn has advanced training in psychopharmacology through Texas A&M University.
Dr. Katie Sardone is a Licensed Psychologist and the founder of Behavioral Health Dallas, PLLC. She specializes in providing clinical health psychology intervention (e.g., individual and couple psychotherapy) and healthcare consultation. Dr. Sardone supervises psychology students at UT Southwestern Medical Center in the Psychiatry Department and routinely teaches, trains, and coaches physicians at various medical centers. Dr. Sardone is the President of the Dallas Psychological Association. Dr. Sardone enjoys working with individuals across the lifespan coping with various medical and mental health conditions (e.g., fertility issues, perinatal mood disorders, pain, GI issues, anxiety, depression and life transition). She uses a supportive, evidence-based and collaborative style when treating patients. Dr. Sardone values an interdisciplinary approach and will therefore often collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists and specialists to provide comprehensive care. She also treats individuals within a family context when indicated (e.g., maternal-infant care, couples and parent-child dyads). Dr. Sardone received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, an APA-accredited program, where she received advanced training in health psychology intervention, psychological assessment, psychotherapy and medical resident education. Dr. Sardone completed her APA-accredited internship at Baylor University Medical Center’s Women’s Health Department where she specialized in providing individualized care for women in antepartum, postpartum, and outpatient clinics, as well as mothers of infants in the NICU. Following her formal training, Dr. Sardone completed an APA-accredited Postdoctoral fellowship at Children’s Medical Center Dallas where she specialized in providing intervention with infants, children, parents and families managing medical, developmental and emotional disorders. Following fellowship, Dr. Sardone held a faculty appointment at UT Southwestern in the Family Medicine and Psychiatry departments focused on training medical residents, program development, and conducting research. She has also earned a certificate in the specialty of Maternal Mental Health from Postpartum Support International.
