Love in the Time of COVID 19
This workshop will discuss the increasing incidents of domestic and dating abuse as a result of quarantines. Reflecting on reports from many countries beginning with China, Spain, Russia, France, Italy, Britain and the United States, demonstrates the increase in severity and frequency can be charted especially after the first two weeks of outbreaks requiring stay at home orders. This then coupled with the increase in alcohol consumption is a prescription for flourishing “intimate terrorism”. The identification and recommendations for preparing for and treating this parallel “outbreak” will be discussed along with the roles required of the police, medical personnel, and shelter administrators. Learning Objectives: 1. identify the need for new and expanded resources to identify and treat dating and domestic abuse. 2. Identify the ten warning signs of an abusive relationship. 3. Identify circumstances that are most likely to increase dating and domstic abuse.
